Pre-Operative Psychological Evaluations

What does a Pre-Weight-loss Surgery Psychological Evaluation Entail?

You will first meet with the doctor for a one-on-one consultation. This 60 minute session will cover a wide variety of questions and topics pertaining to your development, bio/psycho/social history, eating habits, past weight management attempts and issues, and emotional well-being.

After the consultation, you will be asked to take several tests that will help the doctor assess your general well-being, emotional status, and eating habits. These tests typically take around 2 hours and are mostly true/false and rating scale type tests. The evaluation is not a pass or fail test. It is more of a discussion to help you identify potential problems that might lead to difficulty after surgery.

After your session, the doctor will prepare a report detailing the results of the evaluation. This report will be ready and sent over to your surgeon in 7-10 days.

If Dr. Tacoma is in your insurance network, she can attempt to bill your insurance company.  Please call to discuss out-of-pocket fees associated with this evaluation.
